The city of Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang province, wants to protect and preserve its martyrs cemetery for future generations, as the head of public services has announced in recent days.
Cao Ying, who is in charge of the cemetery, explained that it is a way to educate visitors who can learn about these martyrs and their personal stories.
"This project is urgent and there is not enough information about these martyrs and we need to get more of their personal information soon by interviewing their family members,” said Cao.
According to the head, they have been organizing the archives and converting them to an e-version since early this year and have tried to keep in touch with their family members to get additional information from time to time.
The cemetery, established in 1948, has 241 martyrs from several decades laid to rest.
