NE China city looking at more low-rent housing

The housing authorities in the city of Harbin, Heilongjiang province announced on June that they will add 576 low-rent housing units for low-income families in eight new residential areas of the city’s districts.
These construction projects in the Nangang, Xiangfang, Daoli, Daowai, and Songbei districts actually began several years ago and this will mark the completion of the project by the end of this year, with decorations and essential facilities covered by the government’s funds.
Construction work on 1,130 other new low-rent houses will also begin this year in 10 more areas with a completion date of 1-2 years.
Rents per square meter will run around 0.35 yuan ($0.06) meaning that a 30-squre meter-flat will cost only 10.5 yuan.
