Harbin annual summer fun program coming next week

This year’s summer fun festival, in the city of Harbin, Heilongjiang province, will kick off in the Sun Island Scenic Area, on June 13 with a grand opening ceremony that will have some famous local musicians, such as Li Shuangjiang, Yin Bolin and You Hongfei, taking part and more than 100 leisure, tourist, culture, fashion, art and sports activities.
The announcement came at a press conference in the city, on June 3, where the organizers added that the opening ceremony will also have a square dance performed by 3,000 people at the same time, as a highlight.
The summer festival, which lasts for four months, allows locals to mix with visitors from all over the country to have some summer fun with concerts, dances, photo exhibitions, kite flying, a children’s painting competition, cycling event, and more.
There will also be a special promotional event for wetland tourism in Harbin, June 12 - 14, and the city is planning 16 wetland tourism routes and providing online and offline marketing approaches to further develop the business.
Local authorities say that the opening ceremony, which takes place the second Saturday in June, always attract visitors. The summer fun program will run through Oct 10.
