NE China provincial ‘Internet Plus’ Conference

Heilongjiang province is getting ready for its first ”Internet Plus Conference” in the city of Harbin, its capital, on July 10, according to a Heilongjiang Morning News report of July 8, which noted that the event will pull in entrepreneurs and experts from the Internet industry, such as Cao Guowei, chairman and CEO of Sina, who will address the conference.
Other participants include Wang Yukai, professor of the Chinese Academy of Governance, Alibaba’s vice-president, Shi Dongwei, and Sina’s vice-president, Ge Jingdong, who will explain the new “Internet Plus” plan and their experience with it in the sector.
The "Internet Plus" was mentioned by Premier Li Keqiang this past March in his government work report. China also announced an “Internet Plus” plan, on July 4, to combine the Internet with traditional industries while encouraging entrepreneurships and innovation for economic growth.
The conference will also have discussions on combining “Internet Plus” with certain of the province’s industries such as tourism and agriculture, as highlights. Its sponsors are the Heilongjiang government and Internet giants, such as Sina, Alibaba, and its financial arm Ant Financial, which runs the country's most popular online payment tool, Alipay. There will be more than 600 guests from governmental departments, enterprises and research institutes.
