The city of Harbin, Heilongjiang province signed 11 contracts, worth 229.06 million yuan ($36.9 million), at the 9th China Animation Week, in Harbin, on July 19, resulting in a record number of contracts of this kind.

Getting credit for the deal was the new feature at this year’s festival – a promotion activity for virtual reality technology, 3-D digital games, mobile games, and service outsourcing —resulting in contracts on Xunlongji, a cartoon covering the Top 100 tourist destinations in Heilongjiang and local specialties, culture, valuable plants, and animals all in an adventure story. Other contracts covered a new version of the popular Chinese cartoon series Boonie Bears (Xiongchumo), and a documentary that uses animation to explain China's Belt and Road program and introduce the countries and regions along the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.

Sponsor of this year’s China Animation Week, held in the Harbin International Exhibition Center July 18 - 22, is the municipal government.
