Animal husbandry in the city of Harbin, Heilongjiang province put the city ahead of 15 cities of a similar size in China, with an output valued at 54.02 billion yuan($8.71 billion), local media report.

Its meat, egg and milk output reached a total of 1.55 million tons, valued at 28 billion yuan in the first half of this year.

Similarly sized cities are Changchun, Jilin province; Shenyang and Dalian, Liaoning province; Ji’nan and Qingdao, Shandong province; Nanjing, Jiangsu province; Hangzhou and Ningbo, Zhejiang province; Guangzhou and Shenzhen, Guangdong province; Wuhan, Hubei province; Chengdu, Sichuan province; Xi’an, Shaanxi province; and Xiamen, Fujian province.
