This year’s Harbin World Agriculture Expo will be held at the International Conference, Exhibition and Sports Center of Harbin, Heilongjiang province, Sept 17 to 21, its organizers said in a recent press conference on July 31.

The expo will run simultaneously with another international agricultural event- 2015 Heilongjiang International Green & Organic Food Expo at the same venue, Sept 17 - 21.

Taking part in the event will be government officials, entrepreneurs and people in the green and organic food industry from Russia, South Korea, New Zealand, Thailand, the US and other foreign countries, who were invited by the provincial and Harbin governments.

In addition to a summit and forums, there will be trade promotions and fairs for agricultural produce, an agricultural machinery exhibition, and a national logistics skills competition, as well as a Kimchi festival, a new highlight of the five-day event.

Heilongjiang is one of China’s leading agricultural areas and is now in a transition phase from a big grain grower to a high-quality green food hub. Because it is one of the world's three black soil zones, it is full of organic nutrients.

In Harbin, the capital, more than 90 percent of the farmland is covered by fertile black soil, which differs from the yellow soil common elsewhere in China. It also has many rivers and abundant rain and the largest forested area of all provincial capitals. In summer, it has sufficient sunshine, fresh air and a large temperature difference between day and night meaning an ideal environment for farm products and animals, and, in winter, its ice and snow eliminate pests.
