The city of Harbin, in Heilongjiang province is putting the final touches on what will be the largest wholesale market for Russian commodities in China’s Northeast when it opens this Saturday.

The market covers 3,700 square meters and has 45 stalls, three shops for on-site food processing, two cold-storage facilities, and a warehouse. The goods include Russian food, fresh products and handicrafts, most of which cannot be found elsewhere in China.

About a third of the stalls will be operated by Russian merchants so people can shop and buy all kinds of authentic items with a Russian flavor, such as candies, honey, cakes, wine and beer. Seafood, grains and oil are also available there.

There will also be a place for making tiramisu, the coffee-flavored Italian dessert, introduced at the market, where people can get a better understanding of how to make it with Russian ingredients. They can also order it online and enjoy the popular western dessert via express delivery.
