Harbin Buddhist academy opens

The inauguration ceremony for Harbin Buddhist Academy, formerly known as the Jile Temple Buddhist Academy, was held at the Jile Temple in the city of Harbin, Heilongjiang province, on Oct 30.
The academy dates back to 1924 and is meant to combine learning with practice to cultivate better monks and Buddhist practitioners. Representatives of the academy say they will continue to improve the facilities and teaching to contribution more to the development of Buddhism in China.

On hand for the ceremony were representatives of the Buddhist Association of China, the provincial united front work department, provincial ethnic affairs commission, provincial religious affairs bureau, provincial Buddhist association, and the Harbin municipal Buddhist association.
