NE China has great ambitions for e-commerce

The Harbin Economic and Technological Development Zone in the city of Harbin in Heilongjiang province says it plans to introduce 1,000 e-commerce enterprises to develop into a 100-billion-yuan industrial cluster by the end of the 13th Five-year Plan period (2016-2020), according to a recent Heilongjiang Daily report.

The zone says it has more than 300 e-commerce companies and Internet Plus service providers involved in cross-border trade, agriculture, and logistics, such as DH gate.com, a major Chinese business-to-business site, and the Beidahuang grain and oils auction website (bdhpm.com) and that it will do more to promote trade with Russia, as well as agriculture and tourism while building a provincial demonstration zone for e-commerce.

It will also combine merging sectors with the Internet and promote agriculture, retail sales, and manufacturing to improve traditional industries. Also, Harbin built a "cloud valley" in November 2010 in the zone, to seize Internet opportunities, with cutting-edge web technology for cloud computing and and it already has many companies in the Internet sector, such as China’s telecom giants China Mobile and China Unicom, and the main investor, the Gopha Group.

Harbin ramps up childcare services

A new comprehensive service center for childcare in Harbin is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
