NE China adds a Top 10 popular tourism city

The city of Harbin, Heilongjiang province has joined the ranks of China’s Top 10 popular tourism cities, according to a report of Global Times in Beijing, which explained that the cities were judged by tourism revenues, number of visitors, customer satisfaction, and other factors.
In 2014, Harbin received over 60 million tourists from China and abroad, and its Taiping International Airport saw 12.23 million takeoffs and landings, a 19.3-percent increase over the previous year, putting it in 4th place among China’s airports handling 10-million passengers. In 2015, it saw its income from tourism reach 78.69 billion yuan ($12.29 billion), and maintaining 20-percent growth for the third consecutive year.
In addition, it’s Economic and Technological Development Zone won a “Most potential industrial park of China” award for that year, the report says, noting that the other ranked cities include Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Chengdu and Hangzhou, Nanjing, Qingdao, Suzhou, and Yichang.
