The city of Harbin, Heilongjiang province introduced a mobile home manufactured by the Environmental Defense Fund of New York, at in a beer museum, on Nov 4, to demonstrate a low carbon lifestyle and technologies for conserving energy and promoting a "green", sustainable lifestyle.

The interior of the home looks the same as most any other house, but its high-tech building materials make a difference, with window that consist of an inner layer of air that contains 90 percent hydrogen, and an aluminum spacer, and thermal insulation for heat preservation. It also has an innovative water recovery system that allows waste water from a sprinkler, hand basin, or kitchen sink to be reused to flush the toilet and for watering flowers or mopping the floor.

of the walls have 20 bulbs with 10 ordinary incandescent bulbs on the left and 10 other fluorescent ones on the right as an interactive device for visitors, who turn them on with a finger and see the energy consumption and brightness. All the appliances, such as gas stove, air-conditioner and refrigerator are energy-saving.

The home was donated to Harbin’s Environmental Protection Bureau. The producer is a non-governmental, non-profit organization and one of the world’s largest of its kind, with more than 1-million members and a staff of 500 scientists, economists, policy experts, and other professionals around the world.
