NE China pastry cooks get busy with Lantern Festival food

Since the Lantern Festival, on the 15th day of the first lunar month, or Feb 22 this year, is approaching, some pastry cooks in the city of Harbin, Heilongjiang province, have been working hard making glutinous rice balls, a traditional treat for the celebration.

These tasty items call for a filling made of grounded sesame, peanuts or bean paste mixed with sugar, then dipping the filling in water and rolling it up in glutinous rice flour to a certain size.
