Harbin city historical Museum focuses on one hundred years of history, politics, culture, and paintings, and there were many precious historical items on display at the exhibition, among them daotai calligraphy works and authentic Harbin paintings. Historical photographs and postcards showed a mixture of Western and Chinese styles in Harbin and the basic necessities of ordinary citizens in earlier days. There were also posters of "FuShengDong", "HongXingLong" and many historical stores familiar to people today. From the hippodrome, the Harbin railway room in the 1930s, to the Church of the Madona Dormition in the 1940s (now the Cultural Park), all the way to the Central Bank of Manchuria and Harbin Railway Station—it’s a rewarding walk.

Harbin City History Museum, through its collection of pictures, objects, and realistic restorations of historical scenes, lets people feel the charming character of Harbin, its inheritance of culture and history, and its unique charm—all of which have given it the name "Little Paris".

The exhibition led visitors through seven themes, such as the Eastern Chinese Railways, foreign culture, national industries and commerce, looking back at the past one hundred years ago.
