It is expected that the Binbei railway and highway combined bridge will be put into operation at the end of 2016. The old Dongjiang bridge will exit the stage and become a part of history.

Dongjiang bridge crosses the Songhua River and was the first railway and highway bridge in China. It was in use as early as August of 1934, but it is too old and dangerous now. The new bridge, 1267.9 meters long, is a combined bridge as well. It will be the longest railway and highway combined bridge in Southern China, and will have two tiers -- the lower for trains, the higher for cars.
