The 33rd Harbin Summer Music Festival will be held in the city from August 6-20, according to a press announcement released on August 3.

The festival, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Culture and the Harbin city government, will help boost the integration of professional performances with popular cultural activities.

The concert will also further promote the city as a tourist destination, by tapping the potential of the city’s history and culture.

This year’s concert will be guided by the government and participants will include people from all walks of life. A total of 48 performances will feature during the concert. It includes two performances at the opening and closing ceremony, a week of activities by young musicians and 18 performances from both home and abroad.

During the festival, renowned singers such as Sarah Brightman will sing at the concert. Other performances that will be shown at the concert include South Korean musical drama “Turandot”, and a musical concert commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Oleg Londelstlem.

As well as the cultural activities, more events will take place designed to appeal to a mass audience. There are two main venues and 23 smaller venues, attracting performers from both home and abroad.
