Harbin has made further efforts to promote the development of elderly care services during the first half of 2016, according to news from the Conference on Civil Affairs Work.
So far, there are 36 institutions in Harbin that can care for elderly people, with about 8,150 beds.
This year, Harbin civil affairs bureau has attracted more social and financial capital to invest in the elderly care industry. More institutions have been encouraged to introduce advanced management systems, to make better use of resources and run facilities to a higher standard.
At present, capital has been invested into 13 major projects in the elderly care industry, with a total investment of more than 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion).
Harbin will also provide home-based care for the elderly, including elderly people on low incomes, elderly people living alone, and elderly citizens who have made special contributions to society. Services for the elderly include providing food, general health care and assistance with daily living.
Meanwhile, Harbin has also built up an elderly care services platform, to deliver an intelligent home-based care service.
