The 13th Forum on Cross-Strait Development of the Information Industry and Technical Standards opened in Harbin on Sept 6.
More than 500 people, including IT experts and business representatives, attended the forum, which is organized by China Communications Standards Association, China Electronics Standardization Association and Sinocon Industrial Standards Foundation. Huai Jinpeng, vice-minister of industry and information technology, delivered the keynote speech.
Since 2005, 12 previous cross-Strait information industry development forums have been held in cities including Beijing, Nanjing, Xi'an and Taipei. People from both sides of the Taiwan Strait attend the forum to pursue in-depth exchanges and cooperation on issues such as TD-LTE, semiconductor lighting and cloud computing.
To date, the forum has helped produce 320 industrial consensus standards, which effectively promote technological communication, industrial cooperation and opportunity sharing between people from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.
This year's forum has already led to the signing of cooperation memorandums to formulate joint standards promoting intelligent manufacturing and 5G cooperation.
