Women who will soon be grandmothers are learning how to take care of infants at the Harbin Elderly University. From this autumn, there will be 17 newly-created majors available to study at the university. The major in infant care is popular among Chinese dama, or middle-aged women. Teachers teaching the major said that Chinese dama often attach great importance to the care of their grandsons, and they hope to save money by looking after their grandsons themselves, rather than relying on a babysitter.
