Harbin smashes National Day holiday tourism records

A record number of tourists visited Harbin during the national weeklong holiday from October 1-7, as revenue generated also reached a new high.
Tourism authorities in Harbin recorded a total of 905,100 tourists during Golden Week, which is a staggering 81.79 percent more than last year. The total amount of tourism revenue generated during the entire period amounted to 1.4 billion yuan ($200 million).
Close to half of the tourists were from Heilongjiang province, while others came from nearby provinces of Liaoning, Jilin, Hebei, Shandong and Beijing, among others.
The city’s Sun Island scenic spot received in excess of 300,000 tourists during the National Day Holiday period and generated some 5 million yuan in revenue. Volga Manor received about 25,000 people and generated more than 4.02 million yuan.
Harbin’s total passenger throughput for the holiday week stood at 1.42 million, with the number people travelling by rail and air significantly more than last year.
The Wuhua Mountain festival was specifically launched for tourists to enjoy the beautiful autumn scenery during the holiday and tempt people to enjoy outdoor activities such as mountain hiking, fruit picking and hot spring bathing.
