Young people in Harbin are getting married two or three years later on average compared to before, according to statistics from the city’s civil affairs department.

Data reveals that there are 71,500 couples who registered their marriage from January to September this year. Out of those, 21,799 people are aged 20 to 24 years old, a further 45,098 people are aged 25 to 29, another 22,115 people are aged 30 to 34, and 13,201 people are aged 35 to 39. Another 40,791 people are more than 40 years old.

Six years ago, the largest number of people who registered for marriage were those aged 20 to 24, but in the past two years, the largest number of people registering their marriage were those aged 25 to 29, according to a staff member from the Harbin civil affairs department.

The reasons why young people in Harbin are getting married later are because of their commitments to education and employment. Sometimes people spend too much time on their studies, and don’t have time to fall in love.

Also, it seems that more couples now argue over relatively trivial matters. They always criticize their partner, but don’t find fault in themselves. Therefore, the number of people separating is increasing.
