Harbin formulates plans to develop cultural industry

Harbin has released a plan to develop the city’s cultural industry from 2016 to 2020.

The plan states that the government will continue to make efforts to build a distinctive cultural industrial park beside the Songhuajiang River, integrating local culture with technology, finance and tourism.

Harbin will make great efforts to develop its cultural industry relying on its cultural traditions and natural resources.

Harbin will promote their brand through the Harbin Summer Music Festival, and enhance the construction of the Harbin Grand Theatre and Harbin Concert Hall. Music concerts will be held on a regular basis to draw in music lovers and musical talent alike.

Music cultural venues will also be built, such as music museums, libraries and exhibition centers.

Furthermore, Harbin will also speed up the development of its entertainment and fashion industries, vigorously promoting fashion, software and design.

Harbin also intends to attach great importance to develop folk-custom technology and animated games, building an industrial cluster for cultural manufacturing in Harbin.

By the end of 2020, the total output of Harbin’s cultural industry is projected to increase by 70 billion yuan ($10.3 billion), accounting for 9 percent of the gross regional production. Cultural industry will become the city’s pillar industry in the national economy, the development plan details.

Harbin ramps up childcare services

A new comprehensive service center for childcare in Harbin is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
