Nangang District listed among China’s top 100 districts

Harbin’s Nangang District has ranked 41st in the list of China’s top 100 districts in 662 cities for 2016.
The list was released by the China Society of Urban Economy, and Nangang District has gone up seven places compared to last year.
Nangang District also ranked 11th in the list of the top 100 districts with the most investment potential.
In recent years, Nangang District has introduced a batch of projects in strategic emerging industries and continuously found new engines of economic development.
The list of the top 100 districts is based on an evaluation of economic development and quality of life in the area.
In 2015, GDP in Nangang District reached 93.73 billion yuan ($13.6 billion), accounting for 16.3 percent of the total in Harbin. Meanwhile, during the first nine months of 2016, GDP in Nangang District reached 72.08 billion yuan, accounting for 17.8 percent of the city’s total.
The value of Nangang’s GDP has been in first place in recent years, and GDP in the tertiary industry has accounted for 75 percent of the total figure.
In April 2016, a total of nine grapheme-related industries, including the world’s first research and development base for cold-resistant electric motor vehicles was established in Nangang Industrial Park. In July, a public benefit expo was held in Nangang and about 32 projects were agreed to promote development in seven fields. In November, it was decided 34 projects were to be developed in Nangang, at a signing ceremony for industrial investment projects.
A number of industrial clusters quickly developed, including in the sectors of new information technology, high-end equipment and modern agriculture, to promote and upgrade the transformation of Nangang’s industrial structure, according to Liang Ye, secretary of Nangang District.
Nangang has built many innovation platforms to promote the transformation of sci-tech achievements. A fintech industrial park and new energy industry park has also been built there.
In 2016, the district had planned to promote 52 projects with at least 20 million yuan invested in each of them.
