Harbin has issued a plan to develop its logistics industry in a bid to build an international logistics hub.
According to the plan, by 2018 Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang province in northeastern China, will become a logistics hub for Russia and an important distribution center for organic food in China, according to the plan.
The plan also urged Harbin authorities to continue to increase the number of cargo trains and airplanes traveling to Europe and North America.
By 2018, different international logistics channels will be built to connect Harbin with Europe and North America.
Harbin will also accelerate the building of international logistics infrastructure. In 2017, the city will build logistics bases and overseas warehouses for cross-border e-commerce.
Harbin will start reconstruction of roads from Shuangcheng district to Harbin Taiping International Airport this year, and will strive to complete construction of extra infrastructure in the airport economic zone.
From 2017 to 2019, Harbin will contruct storage centers, office buildings and packaging facilities in the Harbin-Europe International Logistics Park in Xiangfang district.
