Heilongjiang officials have been urged to build the largest ice and snow museum in Harbin to improve the cultural influence of the city, said Yuan Fulong, member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, at a meeting held on Jan 16.
Yuan expressed his view that the Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival is the first international activity to focus on ice and snow, and has become very famous around the world.
As ice and snow tourism, culture and sports have continuously developed in Heilongjiang, the ice and snow economy has become an important growth engine in the province, he said.
There is a great opportunity for further development in Heilongjiang’s ice and snow economy, Yuan said.
Yuan suggested building an ice and snow museum in Harbin to fully display the historical development of Harbin’s ice and snow influenced art, sports, tourism and food.
