Harbin’s CPI up 1.8 percent in 2016

Harbin’s consumer price index (CPI) rose 1.8 percent in 2016, compared with the previous year, according to the latest figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics.
The price of consumer goods was 2.1 percent higher than 2015, while the price of services was up 1.2 percent.
Other sectors also saw price rises, including food, education, clothes and medical services, with year-on-year increases of 2.9 percent, 2.7 percent, 2.3 percent, and 1.7 percent respectively.
According to surveys, the price of pork reached a record high of 35.06 yuan ($5.1) per kilogram in 2016, an increase of 17.8 percent compared with the previous year.
The pork price began to increase from March 2015, peaking in April 2016 –– a rise of 37.7 percent.
