Kang Hanqin, the vice-mayor of Harbin, toured Shangzhi county on Jan 20 to inspect fire safety preparedness.

Kang made the inspection tour to raise people’s fire safety awareness and highlight the risk of accidents during the Spring Festival period.

He visited Tengfei Commercial Building and made an inspection of the company, including checking that appropriate fire safety personnel were in place, whether there were adequate escape routes, and whether there was proper firefighting equipment.

After his inspection, he urged all related departments to improve management and fire protection organizations.

Kang also encouraged fire brigades to carry out regular training and drills to improve officers’ firefighting abilities.
