"Total output in 2016 is expected to reach 600 million yuan ($87.4 million) following the founding of HIT Robot Group two years ago, and we want the company to go public soon,” said Liu Zhenjiang, the vice-governor of Pingfang district, Harbin, on Jan 11.

HIT Robot Group was founded in December 2014 by Heilongjiang provincial government, Harbin municipal government and Harbin Institute of Technology. The company is mainly engaged in robotics research and development, as well as related technology transfer and consultation.

HIT is the first institution involved in robotics research and development in China, and operates key national laboratories.

Liu expressed his view that as a new robot manufacturing company, HIT Robot Group is developing and expanding very quickly. He also claimed that the government will continue to support mergers with other small robotics firms.

Bai Xianglin, vice-president of HIT Robot Group is actively preparing to go public. He disclosed that the company has developed advanced technology and is developing a lithium battery.

"Meanwhile, a smart factory has been built to manufacture traditional Chinese medicine," he said.

"Two drone companies have also been established to research and develop UAVs for use in agriculture and law enforcement"” he added.

"Robots can now even be used to deliver meals," Bai said, with a smile.

So far, HIT Robot Group has launched more than 100 high-tech products, and applied for over 300 patents.
