Harbin has made remarkable achievements in building the longest high-tech industrial economic belt in China, according to the city’s science and technology department.

There are currently 52 business entities located in the 15.8-kilometer economic belt. So far, buildings on the site cover 500,000 square meters.

Over the past two years, Harbin has invested about 476 million yuan ($69.3 million) into the building of offices for business incubators and sci-tech companies, which are expected to provide about 12,000 jobs.

The economic belt is located in Harbin’s Nangang district, which has a high concentration of technological resources.

There are currently 22 universities in the district, with about 250,000 students. Eighteen of these universities are located along the economic belt.
