Jia Dechang, a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Heilongjiang Committee, proposed building a national robot innovation center to promote China's robot industry.

As a professor from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), Jia called for establishing the robot innovation center at HIT in an interview with reporters from Harbin Daily.

"Robots are key items of equipment for intelligent manufacturing and the national robot innovation center, if built, would play an important role in promoting the development of intelligent manufacturing," Jia said.

"As one of the earliest established robot research institutions in China, HIT has achieved a lot and boasts a strong research team of 145 scholars and experts," he added.
