Harbin International Airport (HIA) reported about 135,000 passenger traffic volumes over the Tomb Sweeping holiday period from April 3 to 5, a 9.3 percent increase compared with the same period last year.
There were also 1,020 aircraft movements, representing a 17 percent increase year-on-year.
During the holiday, planes were the first choice for travelers to return home to honor their ancestors or go on sightseeing tours. Cheap tickets were the main reason most people chose to fly.
According to statistics, the average discount given for plane tickets was 3 percent during the Tomb Sweeping Day holiday.
Harbin people preferred to travel to places in southern China such as Suzhou, Hangzhou and Nanjing because of their pleasant climate.
