Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) will make efforts to boost the building of Sichuan's Guangyuan city into a smart city.
HIT, the most famous university in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, held a symposium on April 1 in Guangyuan, Sichuan province, to discuss intelligent parking and agricultural projects.
Wang Fei, Party secretary of Guangyuan city, and Han Jiecai, vice-president of HIT attended the symposium and witnessed the signing ceremony for the projects involving intelligent parking equipment and a production base for sensors.
"Smart city building is an irresistible trend of modern city development," said Wang.
He urged more focus on intelligent parking projects, which can help drivers park their cars more easily by using smartphone apps to find available parking spaces.
Han Jiecai revealed that HIT has signed strategic cooperative agreements with both Guangyuan city and Sichuan province last year.
"Everything went smoothly for the preparatory work, and HIT will work harder to implement cooperative agreements through many platforms such as the big data research institute in Guangyuan," he said.
At the symposium, Guangyuan economic and technological district signed a cooperative agreement with HIT Big Data Industrial Company. Guangyuan will invest 200 million yuan ($29 million) in producing intelligent car parking equipment and sensors.
