An Arctic fox was found curled in the grass outside Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine on the afternoon of April 23. The fox was unable to move after injuring one of its legs.

At about 4 pm on April 23, a student from HUCM reported the animal to nearby police.

"There was a fox at our university and it seemed that it was injured,” the student said.

As soon as the student reported it to the police, two officers came to HUCM and found the injured fox lying on the ground.

Despite people approaching the fox, it remained still. It appeared dirty and its mouth was bleeding.

The police officers alerted the Harbin Wild Animal First Aid Station for assistance. Staff members from the station attended the scene at around 7 pm, and took the fox to an animal ambulance.

The animal station later revealed that the fox was an Arctic fox, a type that is usually artificially bred. It is thought that the fox was made homeless by an animal farm after its owners discovered it was injured.

At present the fox is continuing to receive medical treatment off the animal first aid station.
