A program aimed at teaching children how to protect their teeth was held in Harbin of Northeast China's Heilongjiang province on April 26. The kids dressed up as dentists and attended tooth care classes.

The program was organized by a local child career experience center and Elephant Dental Hospital, a children’s dental clinic.

Most kids are fearful of seeing the dentist, but at this activity their interest was aroused after taking training in mouth muscle functions.

To help children understand the importance of teeth protection Elephant Dental Hospital arranged a visit to a children’s dental clinic. There, the children saw how dentists work and had their mouths and teeth examined.

Many parents said that it was also their first time to learn about dental problems and that they had benefited a lot from the activity. "After having this personal experience, kids may pay more attention to dental problems. The mouth muscles functional training was helpful in developing a good habit of protecting teeth,” said one parent.

Moreover, children dressing up and appearing to be dentists can help them understand the profession of dentistry, according to a person in charge of the child career experience center.
