Harbin’s tourism industry prosperous in first quarter

As more people have become interested in visiting Harbin to enjoy the city’s ice and snow attractions, Harbin’s tourism industry showed strong development in the first quarter of 2017.
Data released from the municipal tourism department shows the number of tourists travelling to Harbin in the first quarter reached 17.99 million, a year-on-year increase of 9.12 percent.
With total tourism industry revenues of 28.2 billion yuan (4.1 billion) in the first quarter, statistics show a remarkable increase in tourists from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan with 69.9 percent of tourists choosing to book their tourist routes online.
The number of tourists spending at least one night in Harbin during their travel increased by 10.4 percent compared with last year, reaching the highest increase seen in three years.
