Harbin holds first sports festival for seniors

Harbin held the first sports festival for seniors on May 17 at Harbin University of Science and Technology.
The sports festival was held by Harbin Senior Citizens Work office and Harbin Sports Bureau. Nearly 1,000 sports fans participated in the festival on May 17.
The number of people over 60 years old in Harbin reached 1.92 million, accounting for 20.2 percent of the total population, according to government statistics.
Around 1.5 million seniors regularly take part in recreational and sports activities. The first sports festival held for seniors aims to promote physical and mental health, and further improve quality of life for seniors in the city.
Four sporting events were held during the festival involving foot shuttlecock, gateball, fishing and table tennis.
