A campaign with 28 tasks in four categories initiated by Harbin’s traffic management bureau has achieved significant results in facilities upgrading, order control, safety publicity, accident prevention and services.
So far in 2017 the campaign has dealt with and investigated 2.09 million traffic violations. The rate of traffic accidents involving heavy-duty trucks has decreased by 31.35 percent compared with 2016.
Five thousand traffic publicity posters were sent to institutions such as long-distance passenger transportation companies, travel agencies, school bus units and car rental outlets. Traffic safety classes have been introduced to 379 schools in Harbin. The city also sent 5.55 million text messages about safe travel to people on holidays, engaged in major activities, or exposed to bad weather.
To better promote orderly travel, the Municipal Public Security Traffic Management Bureau has organized 1,200 public servants, residents, drivers, driving school students and volunteers to help every day with traffic at 162 junctions.
