Taiyang Island in Harbin will be equipped with a central heating system this winter to replace its previous coal-fired boilers, with the aim of improving air quality and protecting the environment on the island.

In line with the promotion of clean energy as an alternative for heating advocated by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Harbin Songbei High-Tech Zone decided to improve the heating system on Taiyang Island –– a 5A-level scenic spot which is located on the north bank of Harbin’s Songhua River.

The central heating pipelines will start from the central heating center of Jieneng Heatin7g Co, pass under Songhua River before finally arriving at Taiyang Island.

Currently, construction on the 500-meter river section of the heating pipeline has started and it is estimated it will be completed within a 40-day period.
