The Heilongjiang provincial delegation won three gold medals at China’s top multi-sports event on Aug 30, breaking the world record in the men’s 50m rifle prone competition.

Li Jiahong, the silver medalist at the Chinese National Games of August 2013, claimed two gold medals at the event’s final for the Heilongjiang delegation with two perfect rounds, surpassing the previous world record. Li was followed by his rival from Shaan’xi, whose performance fell short by only 0.3 of a round.

Additionally, the Heilongjiang women’s cycling team, consisting of Lin Junhong from Heilongjiang province and Song Chaorui from Henan province had a time of 31 sec in the women’s cycling final for team racing held yesterday afternoon, pocketing another gold medal for Heilongjiang.

The Heilongjiang delegation also performed well in other competitions. In the women’s table tennis quarter finals, Heilongjiang players defeated the Hebei team 3:0. It was the first time a Heilongjiang delegation had entered the table tennis quarter finals over a 40-year period. Heilongjiang players will meet the Hubei team in the semi-finals.

By the end of the evening of Aug 30, the Heilongjiang delegation had achieved 12 gold, four silver and five bronze Chinese National Games medals.
