The Sixth China Robot Creative Design Contest concluded in Harbin, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province on Sept 16, with around 500 teams across China competing for medals in six competitions.

The contest, which was founded six years ago, aims to provide a platform for people interested in robots to share their experiences of robot development and boost the commercialization of advanced technologies in the robotics industry.

From Sept 15 to 16, around 500 teams gathered in Harbin to compete in six competitions, including robot creative design, robot performance, gymnastics, and track and field.

This year’s event highlighted a Chinese kung fu performance jointly conducted by over 300 robots and 10 Chinese martial arts experts, with live music also provided by robots.

“Students account for a large proportion of the participants,” said Li Jinglai, chairman of China Robot Education Union.

Li went on to express his hopes that more young people would participate in similar events to boost the development and innovation of robot design.
