A luncheon was hosted on rice paddies in Wuchang of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province on Sept 24, giving food lovers a quirky new environment to enjoy local organic food.

The luncheon was jointly launched by Shangri-La Hotel Harbin and Shangri-La Hotel Songbei, aiming to bring in local food to the hotels’ restaurants and promote organic food. Since 2014, similar activity has been successfully held four times.

Wuchang, the host site of the luncheon is known for having a long history and high reputation due to its Wuchang Rice.

The luncheon area was set on rice paddies, enabling food lovers to enjoy authentic local food cooked on-site. Since it is the harvest season, people also got to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the rice paddies.

Among the mouthwatering local foods vying to impress the guests were famous Wuchang rice, wild mushrooms, abalone cooked with potatoes, stewed pork and rice pudding. Food included appetizers to desserts, providing the guests with mouthwatering flavors.
