Harbin government and Huawei Software Technology Co signed a strategic cooperation agreement regarding cloud computing on Oct 23.

According to the agreement, the two sides will make full use of Harbin’s advantages on big data application to establish a data center for disaster preparedness, which is expected to provide services for government agencies, State-owned enterprises and financial businesses when it commences operations.

In addition, Harbin will attach more importance to developing software and an urban industrial cloud in the following years.

“The software industry is a top priority for Harbin in its future development,” said an official at a signing ceremony held in Harbin on Oct 23.

In recent years, Harbin has launched a series of policies to support the development of its software industry. Representative businesses such as cloud computing and cloud data processing are gathering in “China Cloud Valley” –– an industry cluster base newly developed for related businesses.
