A groundbreaking ceremony for Madieer Food Industry Town, owned by Harbin Modern Food Co, was held in Harbin on Nov 12.
The project, which includes two parts: production workshops and a commercial complex, will become a new culture and tourism landmark when it finishes construction.
The food industry town is located at the intersection of Zhongyuan Road and Zhigu Erdao Street. The whole project will cover 53,000 square meters, among which, the industrial estate will account for 39,350 sq m.
Production workshops will operate ice pop, ice cream, Harbin smoked red sausage, and beer production lines. Total investment in the production workshops is 620 million yuan ($93.33 million).
It is estimated that the ice cream production line will have an annual output of 200 million liters, with a production value of 1.1 billion yuan.

A commercial complex containing a hotel, museum, western-style restaurant, pubs and shops will also be opened to promote products and the brand of Madieer food.
In addition, Harbin Modern Food Co will open three flagship stores in key commercial districts in Harbin, where people can not only taste ice pops and ice cream, but also learn about how to make some of the products. Xinyibai Shopping Mall, Baisheng Shopping Mall and Qiulin Commercial Center in Nangang district are the potential sites of Madieer’s flagship stores.
Madieer is a time-honored brand which originally produced ice pops. Now, it has developed into a food company integrating food research and development, production, processing and marketing.
Currently, the company has opened five production bases in Miyun county in Beijing, Quzhou in Zhejiang province, and Harbin, Wuchang, and Fujing in Heilongjiang province, laying a solid foundation to expand its domestic market share.
