The third Sino-Russian sports communication and cooperation meeting is being held in Harbin, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province, from Nov 27 to 30, according to information from Heilongjiang Provincial Sports Bureau.
Delegates from six Russian republics, including Buryat and Sakha as well as the city of Irkutsk, will discuss topics on competitive sports, ice and snow sports, youth hockey leagues, and athletic rehabilitation with staff members from Heilongjiang’s sports bureau. They will also negotiate on establishing a regular cooperation mechanism between the two sides.
The meeting is line with China’s Belt and Road Initiative and aims to deepen bilateral cultural and sports cooperation.
Having been successfully held twice before, the meeting was initiated by the Russian side in 2014, when the two sides signed a framework agreement to cooperate on sports.
In September 2015, the second meeting was held on Heixiazi Island of Fuyuan city in Heilongjiang province, and 21 agreements were signed between China and the Russian republics.
