Harbin to provide free apartments for graduates

Harbin will provide free apartments to new graduates employed in the city for a maximum three-year period, according to information from the government of Harbin on Dec 21.
The newly-launched measure is aimed at introducing highly-skilled workers to Harbin to support its industrial development.
University graduates who qualify will enjoy a free apartment for the first three years paid for by the government of Harbin; and they can pay the rent at a preferential price if they still can’t buy a house when the three-year period ends.
As for companies that build apartments for new graduates, they will receive subsidies from the local government.
In addition, according to the new policy, graduates who obtain a bachelor’s degree and graduate within five years will also be able to enjoy a monthly living allowance over a maximum three-year period, providing they have obtained a master’s degree or doctorate. The subsidy is 500 yuan ($76.05) per month.
