Celebration held in Sun Island marking Longtaitou Festival

A celebration ceremony marking the Longtaitou Festival was held in Sun Island, Harbin on March 17.
The traditional Chinese Dragon Head Raising Festival, or Longtaitou Festival, falls on the second day of the second month in the Chinese lunar calendar every year, which refers to the start of spring and the farming season. This year, the festival falls on March 18.
It was the seventh time such a festive activity was held in Sun Island.
According to Chinese traditional custom, the annual ceremony included a dragon dance, kite flying, touching the head of dragon and polishing the eyes of dragon to pray for good luck in the New Year.
Additionally, to add local elements to the ceremony, a performance depicting the life of ancient hunters was also performed.
It is estimated that about 20,000 tourists and Harbin residents participated in the ceremony.
