The spring schedule for power grid maintenance in Harbin, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province began on April 2, according to information from Harbin Electricity Co of the State Grid.
The action is targeted at 39,000 square kilometers of power grid in the downtown area of Harbin, as well as its eight districts and cities. It aims to guarantee electrical safety and support construction of high-speed railway lines in the area.
Harbin Electricity Co is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 106 substations and 1,164 power lines with a total length of around 8,250.97 kilometers, according to Chen Tie, the company’s vice-manager.
The heavy grid load is the biggest challenge for power grid maintenance, Chen said.
In line with the construction of the Harbin-Jiamusi High-speed Railway Line and Harbin-Mudanjiang High-speed Railway Line, Harbin Electricity will establish 11 new substations and transform around 200 power lines.
The whole project will last until June 28, running through an 88-day period.
