Harbin Wanda: the place for ice and snow sports

Wanda BMW Snow Park in Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang province launched the “Most Beautiful Skiing Girl” competition on April 15.

A ceremony was also held on the day to mark the park’s listing in the Guinness World Records as the world’s biggest indoor skiing facility.

The competition was designed to encourage enthusiasm for skiing and promote the integration of sports and tourism in Harbin, making the city an attractive destination throughout the year. The world record is also expected to help promote the city.

One hundred girls selected following intense auditions showcased their beauty and talents during the competition, and expressed their enthusiasm for skiing.

Members of the public were able to vote for their favorite competitors online, with the top 30 moving on to the next round and receiving free skiing lessons. The top three winners were chosen to become spokeswomen for the park.

A representative from Harbin Wanda City explained that the competition is designed to promote a healthy lifestyle and to demonstrate Wanda’s values of health, fashion and freedom.

The park aims to encourage young people to take part in ice and snow sports, in line with a national policy to promote ice and snow sports. To further this aim, a group of students were invited to attend and witness the ceremony.

Also, the park invited 6,000 students from schools across the city to ski for free on March 24, to mark the upcoming Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022.

Information about Harbin Wanda Snow Park

As the world’s biggest indoor skiing facility, the park can accommodate 3,000 people who are able to ski on six slopes with different dgrees of difficulty at a constant temperature of -5 Celsius. Visitors can also enjoy themselves at the 15,000-square-meter snow entertainment zone which was designed in northern European style.

Theme Park
The park is comprised of five sections – Harbin Street, Xing’an Snowfield, Wusuli Fishermen Song, Lilac Fairyland and Festive Times, which combine the elements of local culture with legendary stories. People of all ages can enjoy adventures with their families at the various outdoor recreational facilities.

Film Park – technology inspires our imagination
Occupying some 18,000 squre meters, the park contains two thematic theaters. Visitors can enjoy the splendid landscapes of North China on the super dome screen at the “Flying across Longjiang” theater. The theater features interactive experiences and is installed with 3D interactive shooting and riding equipment.

Central Theatre – international magic show
The theater has regular performances involving dancing, acrobatics and stunts, with its resident show Magic Destiny created by a team from France.
 

Harbin ramps up childcare services

A new comprehensive service center for childcare in Harbin is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
