The customs in Harbin Taiping International Airport recently introduced mobile payment service to impose import duties, an effort to simplify customs procedures and improve customs clearance efficiency.
Passengers can choose between Alipay and WeChat pay to pay fees, which only takes up about 10 seconds.
Paying via cash or bank card is still acceptable at the customs.
“The new service provides great convenience for us,” said a travel agent manager who frequently flies abroad.
Currently, the airport customs is the only trial site for mobile payment service in Heilongjiang province. The service will gradually be promoted to all the customs in the province, introduced by Shen Zhen, deputy director of the Harbin airport customs.
