The 8th China (Harbin) Spring Tea Industry Expo was held at Harbin International Convention and Exhibition Center from June 1 to 4.

Having been held for each of the previous seven years, the tea expo serves as a platform to promote tea culture and related commercial deals, and is also a good opportunity to expand markets in Heilongjiang province.

The exhibition covered 22,000 square meters, with 1,200 exhibition booths.

Exhibited items included six categories of tea – including Yunnan puer tea, Xihu Longjing tea, Wuyi Mountain dahongpao tea and Fuding white tea – and related products such as purple clay wares, ceramics, clothes used during tea ceremonies, tea sets and mahogany items.

Other activities included an awards ceremony to recognize the top 10 tea brands in Harbin and the Northeast Tea Industrial Economic Development Forum.

The forum included a match-making meeting specially for 15 tea businesses from Fuding city in South China’s Fujian province.

“People in Heilongjiang province prefer food with high salinity and fat, so tea is a perfect drink for people there,” said a tea businessman from Fuding. “Heilongjiang is a popular target source for our tea market.”
